Time is such a thief! In the blink of an eye, Summer is gone! Of course it felt like an eternity in the beginning.

We managed to have ourselves quite the summer experience though. From North Myrtle Beach to Six Flags in Georgia, Start to finish literally had something going on. Myself and all three *boys* are thankful for the new memories made.

The day school got out we had a small Fifth grade graduation celebration, BBQ, snacks, games and s’mores. Two days after school got out, We were headed to North Myrtle Beach again with our family from New Jersey…Meeting them there of course. A week full of Vacation plans…Beach, pool and repeat! Kelly and I also managed to get away and go Parasailing, So FUN! The ride to and from the boat was the scariest part, clenching my thighs together for dear life so as to not fall off the damn banana boat! We also went to Alligator landing and mini golfing again…which the kids all loved! Although, Daniels mini golf club did end up in the pond…broken (shhhhh). We also went to the boardwalk and I scored a yummy frosted pineapple drink…IN THE PINEAPPLE! Too fitting.

We ended out trip with a scare, Daniel was not feeling well and had to go to the E.R. but we all managed to make it home safely…He ended up catching some 24 hour bug…timing was awful but so thankful for his quick recovery.

A couple of weeks later, June 22nd – I had my procedure done, Breast lift and lipo on the “trunk”. Now let me tellllll you! Breast surgery is easy peasy! Sore/numb was not bad, worse part was having to sleep on my back…which I am NOT a fan of. Lipo however…10/10 would NOT recommend if you’re not fully invested in getting it. That crap hurt SO FRIGGEN BAD! Swelling, compressions, Sore muscles, Muscle spasms and the feeling of your skin burning post anesthesia…Solid would not do again…But because I said Yolo I did it…I made sure to follow all post op rules to the “T”. Bandages, compression garment, No twisting of the abdomen, as much as possible. I was and still am following those rules.

Day three post op – Being a mom I felt terrible for not being active with my boys…especially because it was summer. Thankfully our neighbor, Darleen, allowed us to use her pool whenever we liked. So I waddled over and sat under the umbrella, Full garment, post op bra and pads, Loose long sleeve t-shirt and leggings in 100 degrees and let them have at it…Day by day healing was easier and easier…except the whole sleeping on my back…I caught myself so many times mid sleep trying to roll over…I ended up having to wedge pillows on both sides of me and under my legs so I wouldn’t move.

June 28th Mom flew in for her three week stay…I thought I’d be in the clear…rest, recover and recoup. Nope…The night Mom flew in, Matt started to have a sore throat…which progressed into the next day and went full blown fever, sore throat, body aches, weak and tired. He tested positive for Covid…Ugh. The next day, Mom said she wasn’t feeling well…So she slept all day…She didn’t feel well the next day either…So we tested her and she was positive. FML.

Now Ryan’s 9th Birthday is in a week…and we’re trying to still nail down final plans…but we have to postpone because of the obvious…Also 4th of July is in a few days…I tell the parents of the two kids that were going to spend the night about what’s going on and they’re non partial…whatever works for us. So I set it up for Friday…The 8th. Have a swim party at Darleens, order Pizza, maybe bowling, S’mores and a sleepover. All confirmed and then 30 mins later…BOOM! Matthew is spiking a fever of 102.2…So I cancelled/postponed again. I test both Matthew and Ryan…THEY’RE BOTH POSITIVE!

By now Matt is feeling much better…Mom is on a day by day basis and I’m testing negative…Our whole house shut down…We were contaminated. Mom didn’t feel better until about two weeks later and didn’t test negative until three days before she left. Matthew was really sick for about two days and then a quick recovery and Ryan was a symptomatic. What a crap show. We did end up having the sleep over, The kids were awesome, Very well behaved and had so much fun!

Mom left on the 19th of July which gave us only two and a half weeks until school started…So Matt booked us a Hotel in Lithia Springs, GA and we planned a trip to Six Flags…We also had to go school shopping, fill out all the required school forms, Matthew went to his “Kids only” back to school with his friend Issac (For Middle School) and get all of our start times/end times, load times, late start times etc. all figured out. School started August 5th…We were in GA from August 1-3.

GA was a blast…Six Flags was so much fun. The boys did so great! Matt too, He had never been before! They were having so much fun, running from coaster to coaster, dibbing Matt or I as their coaster buddy. We even let them go on a smaller coaster, just the two of them. We most definitely enjoyed a funnel cake but didn’t eat much while there…We did get a “free refill” drink for $25 -_- We also took a picture of the picture of ourself on the wall from the roller coaster and got in trouble because apparently you’re not supposed to…Oops. Thankfully the park was only open from 11-7 because at hour 7 we were all basically ready to go…It was so hot! The lines were super short though so we got through majority of the rides by then.

We got home on the 3rd…about 1pm. Matthew had his “Pop-a-lock” at school at 3pm…Where you bring your class supplies, get your schedule and figure out your locker. My sister in law, Jen, had mentioned that she had bought a combination lock for my niece and let her practice on that before starting middle school and I thought that was BRILLIANT! So that’s what I did…Matthew even took it to GA and practiced, So he was well prepared. Thankfully he figured out his locker, put in his locker shelf and magnetic pencil holder, met all his teachers and saw his best friend (and helped his best friend open his locker). It all went smoothly.

Two days later…School starts and I’m packing lunches. Now I have a middle schooler and an elementary student…Two different start times, two different dismissal times. Matthew now starts school at 7:45am vs Ryan at 8:36am and dismissal at 2:52pm vs 3:45pm. It’s only day three of school being in season again but so far so good. Matthew has been very responsive to his alarm, Up and at’em with no hesitation. Ryan is still a bear who will try to sleep through his alarm >_<

Regardless…Summer sure did fly by…But it always does.
