Y’all! We have had so much snow fall, it’s ridiculous! We typically get about maybe an inch to 2 inches at a time, maybe a handful of times a year. However, mother nature had a surprise in store. We ended up getting about 8 to 10 inches in two flipping days! Needless to say the boys had a snow day…ALL WEEK! Can y’all believe that crap! Not only did the boys have a week off of school, but the roads were iced over so we couldn’t even go anywhere. We were stuck inside with a new puppy, a senior dog, too rowdy boys, a working remote husband, and a mama who was about to lose her shit.
I know, I know. I’m a little dramatic. Ask my husband and he’ll tell you that is a very accurate statement.
It wasn’t all bad, the boys had so much fun playing in the snow, the dogs loved it. Ollie was all about eating the snow and digging his nose in it because it was the first time he had ever seen any. I even let the cats go outside and walk in it, they loved it. But it got to a point where the snow wasn’t enough the boys were bored, they stayed inside, they were at each other‘s throat, Matthew broke his glasses four times in one week! A mama can only superglue glasses together so many times before it just won’t stick!
It got a little worse when we discovered that our puppy had an upset stomach so he had to make frequent trips outside. He ended up messing in his crate, and that’s when I knew something was wrong because he’s been so good about not having any accidents. Also I woke up to a mess in the laundry room a few times for our elderly dog who just couldn’t hold his bladder anymore. I just wanted all the dogs to be able to go outside at once stay out there and let me clean. But no. And yesterday I discovered a lump on our senior dogs shoulder that I never noticed before, I have no idea how I didn’t see it. It’s huge and it kind of scares me but now I have to take him to the doctor word he’s already had numerous tumors removed.
Back on track Teresa! We all made the best of it…Matt and I’s 11 year wedding anniversary was that Friday. So Matthew and I went outside and shoveled the snow off of our driveway, which by the way is hard AF. We also managed to have a small snowball fight, So fun. Matthew told me he enjoyed it and wanted to do it again, it kind of made my heart melt. We all headed out, I was petrified but Matt was a pro at driving on the ice roads in our subdivision. We made it to the main roads and those had been treated so they were all thawed out. We Had dinner, some nice conversations with the boys, and then ordered dessert to go. We headed home and we hung out.
Now as you’d imagine, when you’re stuck in the house, boys can do a lot of snacking or eating. We manage to run out of bread, milk, butter, lunch meat and all the other chips and snacks they like. So naturally they were complaining about dinners, there being nothing to eat, and everything I said we had they obviously didn’t want. Sorry not sorry, but I was extremely excited for them to get back to school on Monday. The ice it started melting the roads were getting clear and then Sunday night I got the call. From the school district “hello family students and staff, due to back roads not being accessible by the bus, schools will be closed on Monday!”. Oh…hell…no!
Good news is, today is Tuesday! This mama made it without COMPLETELY losing her shit!
Now the house is kid free and I almost miss the ruckus…Almost. I love my boys, my husband…our Family more than words could ever express but sometimes I just need a moment to breathe. And that’s ok! Chaos comes in waves…love is the steady stream that carries us through it. Just take a breath…because it’s all temporary. A blip in time. You’ll make it through and it will be so sweet.
